Question and do this every 3 months, do you? if so why do you do it? I do it because if my children needed this I would not say no. Best Answer I do it as I would hate to be in need of blood an there not be any, So if i think that then there must be other who think it also. I am a race marshal at weekends and therefore see lots of car crashes, so far i have been lucky and none that i have dealt with have been bloody or fatal. however with my chosen hobby there is always the chance that one day someone i know, possibly even myself might require some. 30 minutes out of my day once every three months i don't see as a massive inconvenience for the benefit it brings to people all over the UK. If i could give blood more often i would. "edit to answer someone esle's question below" The only time i have missed is when I had a my tattoo's you have to wait a year before giving blood again (UK law). Stupid really as my tattooist studio is cleaner than most hospitals. But as soon as that year was up I gave blood again instantly i have now given 19 pints of blood, looking forward to next week when i can give my 20th Others i dnt know how to answer that, except for sayin to ring up either ur local GP or hospital, nd they shud tell ya! xx no i don't give blood due to my medication im on, but well done you for giving blood :) Only problem is when you or your children need blood it doesnt mean they'll get your blood and it might not guarantee you to get blood - depending on how much they have available....almost like the kidney waiting list. I used to do it but it got so hard after having operations tattoos and piercings. it is usually asked when u apply for a drivers lic. look on it and see or call dmv good luck I used to give blood because I am blood group O and although this group is very common it is also in very high demand as it is the universal donor group, ie anyone can recieve it as it doesn't contain antibodies to groups A or B. I cannot give blood anymore and I am gutted because there is actually going to be a shortage of blood pretty soon as they are bringing out a tset which screens people for CJD antibodies. This will probably eliminate around 50% of potential blood donors. If you can give blood please do it is not that painful and the sense of satisfaction in helping others outweighs the cons by far. |
